There’s not long to go now until the band makes its debut appearance at the Theatre By The Lake, in Keswick, Cumbria, on Wednesday, March 5.
Joining the band on stage will be ace saxophonist Mike Smith, who is one of the UK’s leading sax players – the list of artists he’s worked with include Steve Winwood, Sandi Thom, Ian Paice (deep purple) Craig David and Kid Creole to name a few. He was also recently invited to record with jazz giants Randy Brecker, Scott Henderson and Murillo Romano, and has just recorded with Oz Noy.
This promises to be a great night in a unique setting. The show will include many familiar classics along with some more contemporary pieces; anything from Glenn Miller to Steely Dan with a fair smattering of Count Basie, Stan Kenton and Ella Fitzgerald along the way.
Update: This show will be compered by BBC Radio Cumbria’s Harry King! In addition to this, the BBC are recording the gig for broadcast later in the year.
